Assist, Agentic, Adapt. Only one is the moat.

I use AI agents daily. We’ve built things together. Strategy, decisions, hours of deep work.

Then the context resets. Next session, the agent asks questions I already answered. Starts from zero like we never met.

Here’s how I think about it:

Assist. Respond to requests. Table stakes. Every chatbot does this.

Agentic. Execute autonomously. Use tools, browse, write code. MCP, BrowserUse, tool chains. Becoming table stakes too.

Adapt. Learn. Infer. Become unique to this user, this process, this business.

Two A’s are commodity. The third is the moat.

Most agents can retrieve what I said last Tuesday. They don’t notice that I rewrite their bullet points as prose. They don’t notice I never use “utilize.” They don’t notice that “what do you think?” means I want pushback.

Those aren’t facts to store. Those are patterns to infer.

Memory is not understanding. The model is commodity. Storage is cheap. Adaptation. What you’d lose if you started over. That’s the moat.

Not “can it reason?” but “can it become yours?”
